We began at the break of dawn playing podcasts and "Like a Rolling Stone" and other Bob Dylan and Neil Young's tunes as our soundtrack while hitting Highway 61. Our adventure to the beautiful North Shore was just getting started.
Because we all need long weekends and the North Shore is a little piece of heaven, the decision of going to Grand Marais was simply perfect.
We stayed at the Hungry Hippie Farm & Hostel, one of the best places ever and it's Grand Marais' only hostel! It's unique (a refurbished barn!), cozy and pet friendly so our dog was able to join the adventure! The hosts are unbelievably nice and we met super cool people who also love to travel. I can't talk enough of how wonderful our stay there was and I highly recommend it.
And of course North Shore and the town of Grand Marais area dream. With the falls colors and the immensity of Lake Superior it feels as if we were in a Wes Anderson film, a little "Moonrise Kingdom". My favorite two spots to were Paradise Beach near Covill and along with Artists Point. The landscapes is simply dreamy.
We couldn't miss this classic... We were in line at 7:30AM to get The World's Best Donuts. This was last day of the year we could get them, otherwise we'd have to wait until next summer. We were lucky!
I can't brag enough about the beauty Minnesota has to offer. I can't wait to show off all these amazing places when my family from Mexico comes and visits. It's crazy to me that the majority of people in our country have no idea... but let's keep this treasure our own little secret ;)
