Toronto

The first thing is to pronounce the name of the city just like locals do: "Toronno". At least that's how I understood it after many tries while visiting my brother from another mother. Just being able to see my good friend Guillermo was amazing, and getting to know where he lives even more!

Our adventures began in Toronto Island. Maybe because I'm not used to using ferries in my town, this was very exciting to me and we even brought our bikes on so we could ride 'em around the island and the the skyline view was incredible just like a living postcard.

One of my favorite places in Toronto was Kensington Market where you can find dozens of restaurant, coffee shops and vintage boutiques. It's vibrant and full of color, my favorite type of neighborhood.

Here I stand very content after having eating at Big Fat Burrito, because burritos are a blessing and as a Mexican I cannot escape them.

💛💙💜💚 #Toronto is full of life

Another very cool place I got to visit was the Distillery District where besides tons of restaurants and coffee shops, it has tons of art galleries, studios, theaters and houses a lot of art organizations. It's really cool to see a country supporting local art the way Canada does.

Because I was on a low budget, a very kind friend from my friend Guillermo gave me an entrance to the Art Gallery of Ontario.  I saw Ruben's "Massacre of the Innocents", Frank Gehry's redesign of part of this building with the creation of some stairs that seem to take you straight to heaven, and the Art as Therapy exhibition by Alain de Botton which would transform my view about art, philosophy  and existentialism. That today something in me changed forever and I'm eternally grateful to the universe to have put things into place to have gotten there.

Toronto with all its jewels, and mostly with the treasure called "mi mejor amigo Guillermo", has been one of the dearest and most special trips I've ever made. So if you're planning to get out of the USA due to the recent presidential elections and move to Canada, Toronto is an amazing choice and if you already have a friend like mine living there, then you're all set!
