If you are an Atlas Obscura kinda person then this place is for you. Museo del Juguete Antiguo, also knows as MUJAM, claims to have the biggest collection of toys in the world. It’s a five story high building with a wide range of toys from the XIX century to the 80’s. It’s main purpose it’s to showcase the toys that Mexican children played with and the culture around it.
MUJAM also collects things that I don't know how they would get categorized but are overwhelmingly cool.
We got to meet the owner Robert "El Arqui" Shimizu Kinoshita. He was kind enough to tell us how his family came from Japan to Mexico and how he began his toy collection which eventually became a museum.
"El Arqui" was so kind that he gave Eli, my husband, that he gifted a tiny Lucha Libre set.
My favorite section was the Barbie collection, of course. Having read the origins of Mattel and seen the documentary series “The Toys That Made Us” made it even more special. It’s really fascinating to see the evolution in design.
My husband's favorite was King Kong and the Lucha Libre sections.
In the rooftop of a toy museum in Mexico City lies a secret spot for urban art. This hidden gem counts with contributions from more than 200 artists 🎨
This eye-candy spot was definitely one of my favorite experiences during my visit to this magical city. Also, it was awesome to see art there from our friend Daniel “Ovrlnds” Miranda 🙌 ¡Viva la gente de Chihuahua!
This place has definitely become one of my favorite spots in Mexico City and let me know if you plan on going, I might have to repeat the experience! 🙌
