Outbound 3 months

I've now come back… I did not update my blog-diary because I wanted to describe my entire trip after coming back… I only updated my Instagramaccount (@kimdepablo) account as I went and to help me remember the moments I had through my journey. Here I present my reasons for wanting to travel and a little bit of the impressions this journey left on me.

Being in my late 20s I felt I needed to reconnect with myself and in some way ‘take advantage’ of the friendships I've made along in my life and who now live around the world. I felt I needed other type of challenges; something outside of my comfort zone, outside my cubicle bubble. I did not want to take a one-week vacation to the beach, I wanted more; I wanted to be scared, to struggle not understanding another language, to feel the rush of hopping on the next train, to stay positive under the rain and loving myself for thinking ahead and packing an umbrella. I did this journey because I love me, because I’m my best friend, because I forgive myself and understand that sometimes I don’t understand myself, and that’s OK.

I did this trip because it took effort, openness and the playfulness of almost opposite values such as discipline and not giving a bleep.

From July 1st to September 22nd 2014 (almost three months) I visited places where I had friends and other places I always wanted to visit… the logistics were based on that, the dates my friends could host me and of course cost of getting there, and this is how it went from Minneapolis to:

MEXICO

   CANADA

      ICELAND

         NETHERLANDS

             SWITZERLAND

                ITALY

                  GERMANY

One of my friends told me that my trip didn’t make any sense, geographically speaking. And he was right, but it couldn’t have been more perfect… Starting in Mexico with its beautiful warm and colorful life, the best food and kindest friends, my heart was a happy dancing machine! All the landscapes in Canada, Iceland and Switzerland made me acknowledge that we are indeed one with the nature, and Germany and Netherlands enriched me with history and hope.

As I was in Mexico City I made a very special friend: Traveling Bimby. She followed me everywhere, she enjoyed with me the beautiful views, the museums, the parks; the knowledge from each place; calmed me whenever I got frustrated… and was a beautiful photograph model. She pushed me to pursue it all.

I loved it and I'm happy to be back home!
