Mexisotan = Mexican + Minnesotan

A questions I always get is "Why did you move to Minnesota?", which I'll sarcastically answer like my friend Alfonso: "Because of the weather".

Life brought me here almost six years ago, and I could've picked other cities, but there's something about this place and I'm honored to call it HOME. This so-called flyover state has strongly defined seasons and this has taught me about cycles in life, and to appreciate each and every single one of them. Through Explore Minnesota and  the hashtag #OnlyinMN on Instagram, I've been able to get to know more and more what this state has to offer, which makes fall in love with it over and over.

Why I live in Minnesota? Because...

  • Minnesota Nice! Some of my favorite people in the entire universe! No wonder I'm in love with one
  • Big natural swimming pools: more than 10,000 lakes. No coast? Minnesota has more shoreline than Hawaii, Florida and California combined.
  • Biking trails all around
  • Casseroles, deep fry and local beer
  • First Avenue and the legend Prince
  • Seasons: you really know summer is summer, and winter... well, you feel it, believe me
  • (to be continued in many many other posts)

Growing up in Mexico made me have a spark and living in Minnesota taught me to strengthen that light. I love biking the amazing trails in the Twin Cities and eating tacos from La Hacienda; watching the Minnesota Vikings play football and watching Mexico play fútbol and definitely love to dance to Prince songs while also love to have a little tequila while listening to mariachi music. I'd say I have the best of both worlds, I'm a true Mexisotan.

7and60 made a little video about people who reside in the Twin Cities. This represents how I feel about living here.

Why, with all the possibilities that exist in the world, do we live here in the Twin Cities? In the spring and summer of 2010, we took our camera to the streets of Minneapolis and St. Paul to find people willing to talk, unscripted, on film.
