A little bit older than me, an album with a forever young feeling, a classic and favorite of many, this month Prince’s Purple Rain turned 34 years!
Like many Minnesotans, I too love Prince! 💜 I always liked him. It must have begun when my mom and my aunts would play Purple Rain or When Doves Cry. But I adored him when I saw him live on 07/07/07 at First Avenue in Minneapolis, after two failed attempts to see him in other sold out shows. I had just turned 22 years old and seeing Prince perform at the music venue where he began his career and where big part of the Purple Rain movie took place became to this day one of the best experiences of my life.
This past weekend I ventured south of the Twin Cities to Henderson, MN where a memorial for Prince has been recently built.
I even made new friends!
The "That ain't Lake Minnetonka" scene was actually filmed in Henderson, MN. And they recently celebrated in style for three days during what would've been Prince's 60th birthday.
For any fan this is a must. Take as many selfies as you with The Purple One in the back while wearing the proper purple gear.
I loved all of the iconic pieces and the flowers all around this beautiful homage to a man who created a world of funk and inspiration. Prince truly lives through his music and Minnesotans will remain forever proud of him.
